The Royal Treasury Museum, located in the new contemporary wing of the Ajuda National Palace, opened on June 1, 2022, to permanently house the Royal Treasury of the former Portuguese Crown.

The permanent exhibition hall is, in fact, one of the largest vaults in the world. A golden vault of 775 m², with 3 floors and 2 armored doors weighing 5 tons each, displaying a collection of over 22,000 precious stones, mostly diamonds, and one of the largest gold nuggets in the world. The exhibition is organized into 11 thematic collections, highlighting the Gold and Diamonds of Brazil, the Jewels, the Royal Insignia, the Silverware, and the Royal Table, with its famous Germain tableware, unique in the world.

The international quality of the collection, on par with the finest royal treasures in Europe, impresses not only for its value, rarity, and historical importance, positioning this award-winning museum as a national landmark and a benchmark for museology in Europe.
